AT ONE WITH NATURE
Sustainability & biodiversity initiatives

Their ‘Free Range’ ethos encourages guests to have fun-filled experience while knowing they’re taking steps to preserve the environment during their stay.

They champion pioneering sustainable initiatives onsite – they’ve built pathways made from 60,000 recycled nappies (a world first), heat its water park using locally sourced biomass instead of oil, turn the 80 tonnes of food waste every year into green energy and fertiliser, turn used cooking oil into biodiesel.

The resort achieved the international Green Key award in recognition of its excellent environmental standards.

They’re in the process of building their own 5-hectare solar farm. It will generate 3.2 megawatts of energy annually and contribute up to 30% of Bluestone’s annual power.

BLACK POOL MILL
The unique heritage restaurant

Black Pool Mill is a stunning new heritage restaurant (opened in May 2023) that has breathed life back into an historic landmark in Pembrokeshire – a disused, grade two listed building built in 1813.

It welcomes both guests from Bluestone and the general public – and is run by the Bluestone Resort family.

The mill has been restored to its original architectural glory, with the large iron cogs and wheels making a striking backdrop to the restaurant area and the original milling equipment with their connecting rods and braces to reflect its industrial past.

Bluestone invested £3million into the restoration and transformation of the disused mill into a heritage restaurant.

The restaurant has two dining floors for guests to use, an upper floor dedicated to an industrial kitchen where chefs use ingredients where possible from local suppliers to create authentic Welsh dishes, and there is a top floor banqueting area.

Paul Owens (two rosette) is head chef, who was previously head chef at Mansion House in Llansteffan.
