A short drive from Oxford, Bicester Village offers more than retail and, on this particular morning, it became the setting for something thoughtful, well curated and quietly purposeful.

On a beautiful spring morning (yes, the sun was actually shining for once!), I arrived early at Bicester Village, taking advantage of the calm before the crowds. Bathed in soft sunlight, the open-air luxury shopping destination felt almost serene – its elegant boulevards lined with boutiques from world-renowned designers, landscaped walkways, and thoughtfully curated spaces that blend retail with experience. But this particular day was not all about retail fashion, as all-consuming that can sometimes be (especially for me).
Part of The Bicester Collection, Bicester Village, near Oxford, has long been known not only for its premium brands at accessible prices, but also for its emphasis on hospitality, community, and increasingly, purpose-led initiatives. As I wandered, I even discovered a beautifully designed children’s play area – an inspired addition that allows families to enjoy the village together. It’s a clever concept: one parent shops while the other supervises play, making the experience more inclusive and relaxed.

A Warm Welcome at The Apartment
The morning’s event was hosted in The Apartment, Bicester Village’s private and impeccably styled space for guests and special occasions. It was a fitting setting – intimate yet refined. The refinement aided by the two exquisitely dressed concierge gentlemen showing me the way to the main entrance.
Guests were warmly welcomed by a member of the Bicester team and offered a glass of Prosecco (or a non-alcoholic alternative for those driving), setting a convivial tone from the outset. A selection of delicate canapés followed, alongside tea and coffee, as guests mingled and settled in.
At our seats, we were greeted with thoughtfully curated goodie bags, always a delightful touch, before the formal part of the event began.

Purpose, Partnership & Powerful Voices
The focus of the morning was the DO GOOD philanthropic programme, and its collaboration with Monica Vinader and Women for Women International.

The speakers, Monica Vinader (Brand Founder), Sara Bowcutt (Women for Women International – UK), and Chantal Khoueiry (Chief Culture Officer, The Bicester Collection), delivered insightful and thought-provoking talks, highlighting how this partnership supports women affected by conflict – helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, skills, and independence.

Monica Vinader, known for its modern, responsibly crafted jewellery, has long championed sustainability and female empowerment. With a boutique located right within Bicester Village, the brand plays an active role in this initiative. During International Women’s Month, visitors are invited to shop the Sisterhood and Goddess pendants, with 15% of sales donated to Women for Women International – a simple yet powerful way to contribute to meaningful change.
The discussion also explored the wider mission of The Bicester Collection’s DO GOOD programme, which seeks to create positive social impact both locally and globally-supporting women and children through carefully chosen partnerships.
A Q&A session followed, offering guests the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and deepen their understanding of the cause.
A Relaxed Italian Lunch
After the talks, we continued the experience with lunch at the Italian restaurant La Tua Pasta situated next door to The Apartment, a perfect way to reflect on the morning’s themes in a relaxed and sociable setting. Over delicious food and conversation, it was clear that this was more than just an event; it was a gathering rooted in purpose, connection, and community.
