The Lygon Arms Hosts Jeremy Houghton For Cheltenham Gold Cup Centenary

Jennifer and I were delighted to be invited to the beautiful Lygon Arms in Broadway, Worcestershire for a celebration of the Cheltenham Gold Cup Centenary with artist Jeremy Houghton.

Jeremy has been commissioned to paint all one hundred winners of this historic race. Over dinner, Jeremy talked about his experience of one of the most popular events in the racing calendar, famous jockeys and the stars of the show – the thoroughbred racehorses!

Plus, he gave an insight into his creative world and of the many distinguished clients he has had the opportunity to work for over his career, which, he is keen to remind us isn’t over yet, and he very much welcomes commissions.

For those who aren’t familiar with his work, Jeremy is well-loved for his tonal watercolours and vibrant flamingo oil paintings, and has painted collections for some of the UK’s most high-profile people and places, including Windsor Castle, Highgrove, the Olympic Games and London Fashion Week.

Jeremy’s talk perfectly punctuated a wonderful three-course dinner beautiful prepared by The Lygon Arms’ kitchen brigade who pulled out all the stops. Jeremy was extremely charming and took time at the end to answer everyone’s questions.

With its honeyed Cotswold walls, rich with seven centuries of Royalty, rebellion, glamour and secrets, The Lygon Arms was the perfect blank canvas for such an enthralling event, and we can confirm that everyone who attended enjoyed themselves immensely.
