Summer 2025 is shaping up to be one of the busiest on record for Cardiff Airport. Holidaymakers across Wales now have more choice than ever before, with expanded routes, improved connections, and upgraded facilities designed to make flying smoother.

Three major airlines are driving this growth.
Ryanair is rolling out its largest summer programme from Wales, with direct flights to much-loved hotspots including Alicante, Dublin, Faro, Malaga, and Tenerife.

TUI is serving 22 destinations with 45 weekly departures, giving travellers plenty of flexibility whether they’re planning a week in the sun, a family getaway, or a short city break.

Vueling is also strengthening its Cardiff presence, offering up to five weekly flights to Malaga and three to Alicante.

More destinations, better connections
In total, Cardiff Airport now offers nearly 30 direct destinations. Travellers can also connect seamlessly via Amsterdam to more than 150 global locations – including long-haul favourites such as Dubai, New York, Toronto, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Travel made easier
The passenger experience has been upgraded too. The newly introduced Next Generation Security Checkpoint has already received excellent feedback, helping streamline the screening process with cutting-edge technology.

That focus on comfort and convenience is working. Passenger numbers are already up 15% compared to last year, proving the popularity of Cardiff as a gateway to the world.

Lee Smith, Head of Business Development at Cardiff Airport, said: “It’s great to see the terminal so busy with passengers enjoying our upgraded facilities. We’re consistently hearing how easy and welcoming the Cardiff Airport experience is, which is something we’re extremely proud of.”

Wales’ gateway to the world
Beyond the sunshine and city breaks, Cardiff Airport is a vital part of Wales’ economy, supporting more than 4,000 jobs and generating over £200 million annually.

For Welsh travellers, it means one thing: more destinations, more convenience, and a smoother start to every journey.
