During our recent visit to Oxford, we had the privilege of staying in what we understood to be the best room in The Store: The Arthur’s View Junior Suite. This terrace-toting showstopper, named after former Boswells owner Arthur Pearson, offered an unforgettable overnight experience that perfectly combined luxury, comfort, and a touch of history.

Perched on the fourth floor, Arthur’s View Junior Suite boasts a private terrace with breathtaking views of Oxford’s iconic skyline. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the suite exudes a light, airy, and modern ambiance. A ribbed ebony feature wall, contemporary furnishings, and a generous living space make for a sophisticated yet cosy retreat. At 32 square meters, it includes a super king bed, a spacious bathroom with a rainfall shower, and indulgent Verden toiletries.

A room designed for comfort and style
From the moment we stepped in, we were struck by the suite’s elegant design. The combination of natural light, sleek decor, and high-end fittings created a truly inviting space. The private terrace was undoubtedly a highlight, providing an intimate setting to take in the historic beauty of Oxford from above.

The super king bed was exceptionally comfortable, though we found the pillows a bit high and firm for our preference. The bathroom, however, was a standout feature. The power shower delivered piping hot water with excellent pressure, and the Verden toiletries added a luxurious touch. The scent of the Verden products, further enhanced by the bathroom diffuser, lingered beautifully throughout the suite. A particularly thoughtful detail was the evening turndown service, where the same signature scent was sprayed on our pillows – a truly delightful touch.

An enjoyable start to the day
Despite an early rise, we made time to enjoy the hotel’s breakfast, which offered a mix of continental and cooked options. Every dish was fresh and flavourful, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. The overall atmosphere of The Store was effortlessly chic yet welcoming. Whether sipping a coffee or indulging in something stronger at the bar, the space provided a stylish and comfortable setting to unwind. A curated selection of fashion books further complemented the hotel’s aesthetic, reinforcing its strong connection to creativity and design.

A hotel at the heart of Oxford
Located on Broad Street in the historic heart of Oxford, The Store is perfectly positioned opposite Balliol College. Speaking with the hotel’s Brand Manager, we learned that the hotel has been warmly received by both locals and travellers alike. Their commitment to integrating into the community has made it a go-to destination for both Oxford residents and visitors.

After such a fantastic stay, we wouldn’t hesitate to return to The Store on our next trip to Oxford. From the stylish interiors to the impeccable service, Arthur’s View Junior Suite exceeded our expectations, offering an experience that was both indulgent and memorable.
