Birdwatching (which has 1.6 billion views and counting on TikTok!) is one of this year’s biggest trends for its mental and physical perks – and now is the perfect time to partake as so many birds are on the move during autumn migration.

To help chirp in on the fun, select voco hotels – part of IHG Hotels & Resortsare offering a “Find Your Flock” package for birdwatching, which includes binoculars (for kids and adults!) and birdseed available for guests to use.

Why not try something new? We’ve all visited pumpkin patches, and had the obligatory trip to the garden centre before. #birding is tipped to be the autumnal activity of choice this year – in fact, RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) report that more than three million people in the UK now partake in the activity.

And if all of this weren’t reason enough to get involved in birdwatching, the package – available through 5th November – also includes “early bird” check-in and complimentary breakfast for guests.

More information on how to book can be found here. Details on participating hotels below.

Participating voco properties:

voco St David’s Cardiff
Host to iconic architecture and an award-winning spa, voco St David’s Cardiff is your waterfront home away from home. The Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve is a mere 5 minutes away from the property – perfect for any early morning birdwatchers keen for a lie in.

A number of bird species including Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, use this habitat in which to build nests.

voco Reading
At voco Reading, step into a modern, thoughtfully crafted haven. As a town between two rivers, the Thames and Kennet, Reading’s riverside pathways are the perfect place to spot wildlife.

Many water birds use these rivers, from mallard ducks to grey herons and the secretive water rail, whose presence is given away by its strange loud squeal.

voco Oxford Thames
Take time to indulge in the abundance of nature and history that you’ll discover when you stay at riverside hotel voco Oxford Thames.

Tucked away nearby is Heyford Meadow which went through a major restoration 10 years ago to return the greenspace back to its former glory. Since then, more than 36 species of bird have been recorded including cuckoos, whitethroats and warblers.

We can vouch for the great food at voco Cardiff.
